The Romans transformed Dover into their most important coastal town, and built many fine buildings, of which several still survive. Exceptionally well preserved Roman Official Hotel (mansio) extensive intact wall paintings and elaborate under-floor heating (hypocaust). Substantial remains of Roman fort wall and bastion. All within a modern cover-building with major displays on Roman Dover.
